banner image The Board of Executives of Long-Term Services and Supports develops and enforces standards for nursing home administrators; formulates appropriate examinations; and issues, revokes, and suspends licenses. The board investigates complaints; evaluates and approves continuing education courses to meet license renewal requirements; controls an ongoing trainee program for prospective nursing home administrators; and maintains a register of all licensed nursing home administrators and trainees.

BELTSS LNHA Survey 2019

BENHA (the Board of Examiners of Nursing Home Administrators) was formed on April 12, 1970 as a result of the enactment of the ORC Amended House Bill Number 481, which was emergency legislation in response to congressional legislation 1908 A of the Social Security Act. The Board’s name was changed to the Board of Executives of Long-Term Services and Supports (BELTSS) in 2013.

The Ohio Revised Code provides for the Board to use its statutory power to develop, adopt, impose, and enforce regulations prescribing standards which must be met by individuals to receive and maintain a license as a nursing home administrator. By statute the Board is comprised of four nursing home administrators, one consumer member, one member of the academic community, three members who work in long-term services and supports settings that are not nursing homes, with one of these members being a representative of a home health or hospice agency, one non-voting advisory member who is a designee of the Director of Health, and one non-voting advisory member who is a designee of the State Long-Term Care Ombudsman.

Please click here for the LNHA survey results conducted by the Board in August of 2019. As the Board works on planning for the future, it will use some of these results and comments received to help shape its decisions. Thank you to everyone who participated!
